A Sustainable Spring: The Latest Technology Solutions

Doing Our Part For A Greener Tomorrow

In the dynamic landscape of 2024, businesses are increasingly recognizing the imperative to adopt sustainable practices across all facets of their operations. At the forefront of this eco-conscious movement is the quest for strategic solutions that not only streamline processes, but also contribute to a greener tomorrow.

We know that partnering with a 12-in-1 supplier like Warehouse Direct can reduce your overall carbon footprint by allowing us to consolidate your orders into fewer deliveries and offer comparable, eco-friendly versions of the products and services you already use. While we often think of recyclable paper products, one frequently overlooked area in the pursuit of sustainability is technology.

Businesses, in their quest to be environmentally responsible, must pay attention to the brands they engage with and the sustainability approaches that are woven into their technology solutions. What steps are the manufacturers themselves taking to reduce their carbon footprint across their production pipeline? Are there environmentally unfriendly business practices that you are inadvertently supporting? These are important questions to ask and consider when purchasing any product.

This makes it easier than ever for businesses to make a seamless transition towards their sustainability goals. Warehouse Direct stays on top of these new programs and products so that we can continue to offer you new ways to incorporate conscious choices into your workplace.

Making the switch to eco-conscious options has never been more accessible, straightforward, or easy. Take a look at some of the sustainability measures our most popular brands are taking in 2024.

Print Responsibly with HP

HP's approach to Sustainability is to Go Beyond.

This means rethinking their products to use recyclable materials, and working with their manufacturing partners to reach a net-zero value chain by 2040. As one of the largest printer vendors in North America, this is a huge feat. HP thoughtfully selects their materials for their printers, from high-capacity toners that save up to 20% more energy while printing, cartridges containing more than 57% recycled plastic, down to fibre-based packaging that is 100% sustainably sourced. This is all in addition to the work they do to combat deforestation, champion human-rights, and global philanthropic efforts.

HP also offers recycling programs for used cartridges, batteries, packaging, even old printers themselves, with a variety of ways that make it easy to do so. This is because they believe in a Circular Economy; repurposing as many recyclable materials as they can to create new, ready-to-use products. Kyocera: Pioneers in Sustainability

Kyocera takes sustainability down to the hardware level. 30% of the plastics used in Kyocera products are recycled, and more than 99% of the total plastic can be recycled. They took extra care in manufacturing their parts out of high quality, long-lasting ceramic, and now nearly all of their printers include a patented ceramic drum that is separate from the toner container--meaning it does not need to be replaced when the toner is depleted. This technology extends the life of your drum and the internal developer unit, allowing companies to cut back on waste and downtime associated with part replacement. The ability to print up to 600,000 pages before needing a replacement makes it extremely efficient for businesses, all while significantly reducing landfill waste, lowering CO2 emissions, and saving on energy bills. Your new Kyocera printers and components are even shipped in biodegradable product packaging to further minimize the carbon footprint!

Kyocera also established an ECO footPRINT program that allows customers a way to return empty toners to their recycling partner, giving you an additional avenue to practice sustainability in your business.

Mailroom Changes in 2024

We can assist your business in complying with the new regulations this year. Fill out the form to get in touch with us today.

New USPS Requirements

If your business has its own mailroom system set up, you may have heard about the new postage meter requirements issued by USPS. Your postage meter must be upgraded to have the new Intelligent Mail Indicia (IMI) technology this year, created to be more secure, accurate, and efficient.

Any outdated postage meters that run on Information Based Indicia (IBI) will be phased out by December 31, 2024, and officially marked as inactive by USPS. Vendors will no longer be able to sell or lease outdated postage meters as early as June 30, 2024.

To avoid any lapse in your ability to use your mailroom equipment, the Experts at Warehouse Direct recommend looking into a new postage meter as early as possible. This is also a great time to add mailroom equipment to your business to cut out unnecessary trips to the post office, allowing your business to be more efficient, save you money, and cut down your carbon footprint.

Luckily, Warehouse Direct has partnered with FP Mailing Solutions, one of the few manufacturers of IMI-compliant postage meters. They have a variety of options to choose from for businesses of all sizes, needs, and budgets. If you don't know where to start, get in touch with an Expert who can help you narrow down your options for your specific business needs.
